Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch cast iron skillet or baking dish with butter.
In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined (do not overmix).
Spread the batter evenly into the prepared skillet or pan.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with butter and honey.
