Ingredients

  • 4 ounces vodka
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 12 ounces chilled ginger beer
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedges for garnish
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish optional
  • Thin slices of fresh ginger optional

Method

  1. Fill two copper mugs or short cocktail glasses with ice. Packing the mugs well keeps the drink extra cold and prevents quick dilution.
  2. Pour 2 ounces of vodka into each mug. Choose a smooth vodka for the cleanest flavor.
  3. Add 1 ounce of fresh lime juice to each mug. Freshly squeezed lime tastes brighter and more vibrant than bottled juice.
  4. Slowly top each mug with ginger beer, pouring close to the ice to preserve the carbonation.
  5. Give each cocktail a gentle stir to combine without knocking out too many bubbles.
  6. Garnish with a lime wedge, a sprig of mint, or a slice of ginger for a little added fragrance and flair.
  7. Serve immediately while icy cold and enjoy the crisp, refreshing flavors.
