Ingredients
  

  • 2 ounces tequila blanco
  • 2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup or agave syrup more or less to taste
  • 2 –3 ounces chilled grapefruit soda or to top
  • Ice cubes
  • Coarse salt for rimming the glass (optional)
  • Grapefruit wedge for garnish (optional)
  • Lime wheel for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Prepare the glass (optional): Run a grapefruit wedge or lime wedge around the rim of a short glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of coarse salt to coat. Set aside.
  2. Add the base: Fill the glass with ice cubes. Pour in the tequila blanco, fresh grapefruit juice, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup or agave syrup.
  3. Stir and top: Stir gently to combine, then top with chilled grapefruit soda until the glass is almost full. Give it one more gentle stir to mix.
  4. Garnish and serve: Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and lime wheel. Serve immediately while icy cold and bubbly.
